Garissa is a large county in the north-east of Kenya. Many villages face long walks for water, and in 2024 floods hit the county and left many families in need of urgent help.

A water system run by the community
In Rubale village a community committee manages a solar-powered water system, so women and children no longer walk far for water.

Workshop participants formed 10 advocacy groups and started talks with more than 300 people about HIV and gender-based violence.
